Not A Good Way To Use A Walking Stick

In 1856 Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts was beaten repeatedly with a metal-knobbed walking cane. The attacker -- a South Carolina congressman named Preston Brooks -- whacked Sumner into unconsciousness over the course of a "long minute," and then calmly walked away. The motivation behind the attack was an anti-slavery senatorial address directed toward Brooks' pro-slavery kinsman, Senator Andrew Butler of South Carolina.

After the beating Brooks was promptly censured by the House of Representatives, and, shortly thereafter, died at only 37. Sumner, on the other hand, recovered from the attack and served another 18 years in the Senate.

The infamous beating was certainly a low point in the pre-Civil War period of United States history. One lesson learned: no matter what raises your ire, the proper use of a Brazos Walking Stick -- or any walking stick for that matter -- is for walking support!

We've had people ask us to do everything from restoring their antique cane, to shipping us raw wood and having us make a stick out of it.

With any customization, laser engraving also makes an attractive and welcome addition. We can engrave names, phrases, Bible verses, and even logos.

Gary's Twisted Oak Cane

Just received my cane and wanted you to know how pleased I was. Unfortunately for me I had ordered two canes from a competitor and when you put them side by side the quality of the Brazos cane is far superior and for about the same price.

"Bravo to Brazos Walking Sticks!"

Bravo to Brazos Walking Sticks! I have a collection of canes from Brazos and use a different cane every day.

I unfortunately had a Spinal Fusion and needed a cane, but soon I learned how fun it was to have a growing collection. Eric, the manager, was always available, both on the phone and on the Internet.

I get all kinds of admiration whenever I meet people on the street. People want to know where I got such pretty and interesting canes and walking sticks.

Every cane ordered was of profound perfection. The woods used were of the highest quality. If you find beauty in wood as I do, and need a cane or walking stick, I highly recommend Brazos. I now own over 21 of these works of art and I'm not done yet!

Give Eric a call and start developing an admiration as I did for the wonderful qualities and beauty of wood, both domestic and exotic. Brazos Walking Sticks will get you what you need, when you need it and you will have fun doing it as well!

(Currently you can access the accessories by deciding what stick you want to buy and clicking "add to cart," and we don't currently have a FAQ page.)

We're confident that the new features will help you all, our customers, make more informed decisions with regard to your walking stick and cane purchases.

Of course, feel free to email us or call us at any time with questions or comments about any of our products.

"When I found your website, everything changed."

Here are a few nice words from a woman who found our website:

I just wanted to let you know that I have tried searching for a replacement for my aluminum cane three times in the past 4 months. Each time I have stopped within a day because the search was so depressing ... it made me feel old and reminded me of my disability (which is fairly new to me). When I found your website, everything changed. I am really enjoying perusing your gorgeous products and am extremely grateful I found it.

Melissa's got an interesting website herself. Check her site out if you need any baby carriers or cloth diapers.
